Rundown Show: Episode 3 - Stereotyping Arabs in Hollywood productions

This week on the Rundown we talked about Arab stereotypes in Hollywood productions. We discussed many movies, shows, and other TV and cinema productions that have framed a certain ideology that perceives Arabs in the worst ways. Even though we highlighted the fact that some shows have tried to steer away from this way of thinking but the fact remains that many western shows still portray Arab as terrorists or as people living in the desert with camels. This week we were also able to interview Dr. Mohammed El Masry, a Mass Communications professor at AUC, who talked to us about issue that we earlier discussed in our roundtable discussion.

Behind the fashion scene in Egypt - Final Project Promo

This is a promo for my final project that will be played out on May 15 and May 19 at 10 a.m. in AUC's New Cairo campus, BEC building room 1060.

The Final project will mainly be about Egyptian fashion designers who have decided to study fashion abroad and develop their brands in the Egyptian fashion market.

You can also check it out on Sound-cloud bit.ly http://

Final Project Interview segment (with Amani El Chrief)

In the interview with Amani El Chrief, one of the well-known fashion designers in Egypt, she explains to me her difficulties and achievement after deciding to choose a career in fashion. After she had developed her own gallery in New Jersey, USA, she came to Egypt to develop the same concept in her hometown Cairo. There were two very important things I concluded from this interview, and they are, first the idea or definition of fashion designer in Egypt is different from that in the western fashion industry. Second that while Egypt produces the finest cotton in the world, but designers like Amani buy such fabrics and materials from out side Egypt because none of it is sold inside, she would have to travel to cities like Milan, Italy to get the best quality of fabrics for her collections.

My Favorite Place on Campus (Nat Sound Essay)

Nat Sound Essay: My Favorite Place on Campus:-

Script: In my four years as a university student, I have come to favor some places on campus. Places where I met my friends and places where I took the time to focus on my schoolwork and research.

The Library is one of the places that I spent a lot of my time. When I first enter the library I can always hear students sitting around, either working on something or just talking. Some of them are at their computers typing with their undivided attention on their screens. Next, and after I’m done with whatever work I came to the library to finish, I take a walk down the hall where the printing station is. Inside all the printers are on and papers are sliding out of them.

However, my favorite place on campus was never the library like some of my friends, but it has always the garden behind it. Filled with trees and green grass, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy some sunshine with my friends during the summers and winters.
